Starting blocks are divided into age groups in accordance with the UCI Gran Fondo World Series regulations. Due to limited space on the first section of the course, there will likely be a 7-minute break between each starting block.

The following start wave allocation is provisional and may be adjusted to reflect the actual number of starters shortly before Gran Fondo weekend.

VIP start group

VIP starting places are allocated by the event organizer. VIP participants are not included in qualification for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series Final or in the age-group rankings. There will be a separate VIP ranking.

Licenses

The following license categories apply to participation in the Gran Fondo World Series:

• No license
• Amateur license
• Masters license
• Elite license, with the following exceptions

Exemptions:

• Riders who were members of a UCI-registered team in the current year.
• Riders who participated in a World Championship, Olympic Games, Continental Games, Regional Games or Commonwealth Games in the current year.
• Riders who earned UCI points in the year of the World Championships.

Note: Riders who have qualified for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships must hold a valid licence issued by their respective national federation to take part in the final. Day licences are not accepted.

You must also hold a UCI licence and have adequate insurance against accidents and civil liability in the country hosting the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

Age-group results for qualification for the UCI Gran Fondo World Series Final will be compiled in the following categories, each for women and men:

• 19–34 years
• 35–39 years
• 40–44 years
• 45–49 years
• 50–54 years
• 55–59 years
• 60–64 years
• 65–65 years
• 70–74 years
• 75–79 years

Further age categories follow in 5-year increments.

The relevant date is December 31, 2027.

1. Qualification through the UCI Gran Fondo World Series

Based on the results, the top 25% of starters in each age group qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.

The fastest 25% are determined based on the number of starters in each age group, not the number of riders who finish the race. If the calculation results in a decimal, it is always rounded up. For example, if the result is 5.2, 6 riders qualify.

In addition, the first three riders in each official age category qualify directly for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, regardless of the number of starters in that age group. These riders must finish the race to qualify.

Riders who qualified through the UCI Gran Fondo World Series will be notified in the event marquee and receive a UCI medal. The result will be confirmed later on the UCI Gran Fondo World Series website.

Qualified riders will receive an official email inviting them to register for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships via the dedicated online registration portal.

All riders, whether licensed or not, who complete the same distance at a qualifying event are officially considered participants in the UCI Gran Fondo World Series. They must be part of the same results list, regardless of the start wave in which they started.

2nd UCI Gran Fondo World Champion

UCI World Champions from the previous UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in the time trial and road race may compete in both events at the first UCI Gran Fondo World Championships after winning their title, without having to qualify separately.

3. National Masters Champions

All national Masters champions of the current year, in road racing and individual time trial only, may compete in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships without qualifying through the UCI Gran Fondo World Series—in both the time trial and road race.

The national federation concerned confirms the national Masters road race and time trial champions to the UCI.

4th Masters Continental Champion

All Masters continental champions from the current year, in the road race and individual time trial only, may qualify for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships through the UCI Gran Fondo World Series without having to qualify—both in the time trial and the road race.

The Masters continental champions in the road race and time trial are confirmed with the UCI by the relevant continental confederation.

5. Wildcards

The following wild cards allow direct qualification for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships:

Each UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifying event in the 2025–2026 season may award 5 wildcards to riders who have participated in the respective qualifying event—time trial and/or road race. Each UCI Gran Fondo World Series organiser confirms these wildcards with the UCI.

All countries that do not host a UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifying event in the 2025–2026 season may award 10 wild cards to riders of their choice: 5 men and 5 women. The relevant national federation must confirm these wild cards with the UCI.

The current UCI regulations apply.

UCI technical regulations – explanations

Every rider who finishes in the top 25% of their age group at a UCIGFWS qualifying event receives a medal. The top three finishers in each age group receive their medals on the podium.

Receiving a qualifying medal does not automatically entitle you to take part in the World Championships, as the results must first be approved by the UCI.

In addition to the points listed here, please also observe the general terms and conditions of participation (GTC).

• The course is not closed to traffic. Road traffic regulations apply.
• Instructions from the police and course marshals must be followed at all times.
• Participation is at your own risk. Helmets are mandatory.
• Personal support vehicles are prohibited for road safety and organisational reasons.
• By registering online, participants confirm that they will comply with the applicable road traffic regulations. We recommend having valid cycling liability and accident insurance covering timed road races and valid in Austria and Hungary, or an ÖRV Marathon Card, ÖRV or UCI licence. Standard liability and accident insurance policies often exclude events with timing and rankings.
• The event passes through Hungarian territory. Passport checks may be carried out during the event. You must carry a passport or ID card.
• Each participant must sign the liability waiver in person and submit it when collecting their race number. Participants who do not sign the waiver in person will not be permitted to start.
• Participants who finish the race in Illmitz and later cross the finish line in Mörbisch will not be included in the results.
• Participants who do not pass the intermediate timing point will receive a time penalty.

Riders in all categories are ranked by gun time from the respective start.

Gross time is the actual race time from the start signal to crossing the finish line.

A team consists of at least 4 cyclists, all of whom must complete the same course.

The times of the four fastest participants on each team are added together and used for the overall standings.

There are men’s, women’s, and mixed teams. Mixed teams must include at least one person of a different gender.

There are no additional costs for participants.

Tour B starts together with Tour A in Mörbisch. Tour B participants start in the last block.

All participants, including those in Tour A, can decide in Illmitz whether to continue riding Tour A or take the ferry from Illmitz to Mörbisch.

There are no time results or rankings for Tour B.

If Tour A participants finish the Neusiedler See Radmarathon in Illmitz, they will also not be included in the Tour A rankings.

The Tour B finish line is located in the direction of travel at the first town sign for Illmitz.

The onward journey to the ferry is unregulated and unsupervised, and is undertaken at your own risk in accordance with the road traffic regulations.

Aid station 1

The first aid station is located approx. 63 after the start in Illmitz.

Feed station 2

The second refreshment station is located approximately 99 km from the start in Breitenbrunn, by the Raiffeisenbank on the service road alongside the main road.

Please note: No refreshments may be handed out on the federal highway.

All feed stations are stocked with the following products:

• Melasan sports drink
• Mineral water
• Pierre Baguette filled baguettes
• Sausage rolls
• A selection of sweet pastries: poppy seed strudel, nut strudel, slices
• Fruit

The refreshment stations are self-service. Participants must take and refill all food and drinks themselves.

Participants' family members are also welcome to be at the refreshment stations and help hand out food and drinks.
